World Ballet Day 2026

World Ballet Day is an annual event dedicated to ballet, aimed at bringing the art form closer to the public. It was initiated in 2014 by some of the world’s most renowned ballet companies to broaden access to an art form often perceived as too inaccessible or exclusive. Celebrated since 2014, the event typically takes place in late October or early November, with the exact date determined by leading global ballet companies at the start of each new season. On this day, preparations taking place behind the scenes—such as training sessions, rehearsals, or special dance performances staged for the occasion—are broadcast live across various time zones. Other ballet companies and schools often join in, and sometimes, events dedicated to World Ballet Day span an entire week.

This year is no exception. Although World Ballet Day itself fell on October 29th, the ballet troupe of the Vanemuine Theatre is inviting everyone to an "Open Ballet Week." A variety of performances and events will take place from November 3rd to 8th.

Further information can be found on the National Theatre Vanemuine's website.
