Estonian Ballet Union will launch a new creative scholarship "Gifted Stamina"
From September 2019, Estonian Ballet Union will launch a new creative scholarship "Gifted Stamina".
As the dancers demand for general physical fitness training to support their ballet careers, the board of Union is pleased to introduce a new creative scholarship to active dancers, ballet educators and rehearsal teachers. The purpose of the Gifted Stamina Scholarship is to support a dancer's career requiring physical activity. It is a material support for maintaining and developing a general physical form for one year. The maximum amount of the scholarship is 800 euros and its duration is 01.09.2019-31.08.2020.
"Nowadays ballet artists have to be very versatile, to master both classical and contemporary dance techniques, and must be able to work without a proper resting for a very long period," says Triinu Upkin, chairman of the board of the Estonian Ballet Union. "To meet those expectations, just going to a ballet class in the morning is no longer enough. Dancers also have to practice pilates, male dancers are advised to go to the gym, and everyone would like to have a good early morning swim in the pool," Upkin continues. "I hope that the new scholarship developed by the Board of the Estonian Ballet Union will support the development of Estonian dancers and help them to avoid injuries."
The new scholarship will cover the cost of using the gym and swimming pool, as well as Pilates, Yoga and Physiotherapist (individual) training, but will not cover therapeutic physiotherapist sessions, massages and water park visits.
The Creative Scholarship Gifted Stamina will be awarded on the basis of submitted applications with a decision of Union Board. The finance comes from Ministry of Culture, from the support to the Creative Unions as Estonian Ballet Union.
